HOW IT WORKS
Digital sensors capture the image in seconds, with no bulky film.
Digital X-rays use far less radiation than older film, and we shield you as a matter of course.
X-rays reveal the parts of your mouth we cannot see by looking: cavities forming between teeth, infection at the root, bone loss from gum disease, and the position of teeth that have not yet come in. They turn guesswork into a clear picture.
Digital X-rays use a very small amount of radiation, far less than film, and we only take them when they will genuinely inform your care. For most patients, the information they provide far outweighs the minimal exposure.
There is no one-size-fits-all schedule. Someone with healthy teeth and no history of decay needs them less often than someone managing active issues. We base the timing on your individual needs, and we always explain why.
Our hygienists, Julie and Austin, are both skilled and genuinely warm. They go at a pace that is comfortable for you, explain what they are finding as they go, and send you home with a clear picture of your oral health.
Both are trained at UNC Chapel Hill, and both are known for putting patients at ease and taking the time to teach. They make each cleaning feel comfortable and unhurried.
